Sony Raises the Digital Bar with Alpha SLT-A57V Camera The Sony Alpha SLT-A55V set new standards in digital photography when introduced more than a year ago by offering higher resolution, faster continuous shooting, incredible image quality, and innovative translucent mirror technology. DigitalCameraReview editors gave it a four-star rating after putting the camera through its paces in the field at Jackson and Yellowstone, Wyoming and later under controlled test conditions.
Now, Sony builds upon that tradition of innovation with the release of the Alpha SLT-A57, a sleek new model that replaces and takes a step beyond the venerable A55 with a faster burst rate mode, higher ISO sensitivity and new automatic shooting features like Auto Portrait Framing.
This new member of the family uses the same APS-C 16.1 megapixel CMOS sensor and BIONZ image processor technology offered in its NEX-5N mirrorless interchangeable lens camera introduced late last year. The result is a native ISO range of up to 16000 and super-sharp high-definition video capabilities.
Sony has packed a lot of new innovations into the Alpha SLT-A57, including an Auto Portrait Framing mode that automatically crops photos identified as portraits to give beginning photographers a creative edge when it comes to composition.
Making the picture even more perfect is the fact that this new addition is priced the same as the previous model, even though it is packed with next-generation improvmements.
