Western Digital Beats Storage Boundaries with the Passport WD 2TB Portable Drive Traditional passports can open doors to a world of travel and adventure. While Western Digital's lastest addition to its My Passport series may not be so official, this new portable external drive can be just the ticket for users looking for a way to easily and securely store tons of digital photos, video and other files for either the short haul or long-term archiving.
As the name implies, the My Passport WD 2TB offers a massive storage capacity in the multi-terrabyte neighborhood, as well as an ultra-fast USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 transfer capability. This rugged little device weighs about a half pound and is tough enough to take on the rigors of an executive briefcase or student backpack with ease.
Western Digital designers definitely took an industrial approach with this latest addition to the family, creating a black version that is is made from matte black plastics and accessorized with glossy black accent dots. This is a terrific improvemnet over the older all-glossy plastic Passports, since the new look resists scratches and retains that out-of-the-box look a lot longer.
Data stored on the WD 2TB is password-protected, so all of your information is safe and secure. Writing to the portable disk and accessing your data is a snap since the device performs at blazing speeds, according to CrystalDiskMark benchmark tests performed by NotebookReview editors. In fact, this compact little entry was just given NotebookReview's prestigious Editors' Choice Award for best-performing portable storage device in it's class.
