We name the best NAS box for media streaming

Streaming services like Spotify are great, but if you're a stickler for audio quality, you most likely buy CDs and rip them to FLAC and store the tracks on a NAS box. Whether or not you're familiar with NAS (network-attached storage), we'll show you best models for media streaming and backing up all your devices.

Speaking of geeks and streaming, we've just reviewed the second-generation of Nvidia's media-streaming device, the Nvidia Shield TV. It's a nerd's delight for watching videos, listening to music, and playing games, too. Being nerds ourselves, we kinda dig it.

And did you hear the news? Sprint just dumped a ton of money to buy a 33-percent stake in Tidal, one of the few music-streaming services that offers CD-quality streams encoded in FLAC, the free lossless audio codec. That's going to be interesting to watch.

That's just a few of the stories we have in store for you this week. Check out the list below, and be sure to come back tomorrow when we publish our list of the top Oscar nominees that are already available for streaming.

And please, let me know if there are any other ways we can meet your needs by dropping me a line at mbrown@techhive.com. Or visit our Facebook page and sound off there.

Until next week: Cheers!
